"Every time I am going somewhere that I don’t know, I use my GPS, once I type the address, it calculates the route and I follow it to my destination. Life works the same way, unfortunately I wanted to take my life to places and I didn’t know how to map it out.
Thank God for The One Less Foundation, for being the GPS that my life needed. My route is calculated and my destination (dream) is clear. With the Life Coaching program and the personal finance program I am on my way to live life with purpose".
Education should be a continuous part of life, our programs work with youth and adults to encourage them to continue learning, whether it's by helping them stay on track to graduate high school, continue to higher education, return to school as an adult or find a career path through technical training, including through our in-school programs.
"I have been in the RISE mentoring program and SAT prep class for 6 weeks and I have learned a lot of valuable information. The first time I took the SAT’s my score was a 900. The second time that I took the test my score was 150 points more than the first time.
The mentoring program helped me a lot as well. In the mentoring program, I learned about different careers. I also learned about the types of degrees that I would have to obtain in order to get in the career that I want. We also talked about school. On the last day of the program, my mentor and I made friendship bracelets. In the end, Whitney was a great mentor and became a good friend".
Working with a mentor or life coach is the extra edge we give to students and adults looking to chart their course in life. The one-on-one attention allows us to customize the learning experience and concentrate on the goals that are the most important to each individual while expanding their access to resources and opportunity.
